Pen and India ink and pencil on paper. 9,9 × 20,9 cm (3 ⅞ × 8 ¼ in.). In the lower margin, signed on the left: Liebermann, as well as inscribed on the right: [illegible] 429. Catalogue raisonné: See Schiefler LXVIII. The drawing served as the draft for the woodcut "Hilariens Sturz" in: Johann Wolfgang von Goethe. "Der Mann von fünzig Jahren" (p. 63). Berlin, Cassirer, 1922. [3206]

Condition Report: Fine, harmonious overall appearance. The black India ink slightly faded. The sheet edges with minor time staining, otherwise without tears or losses. The paper in places lightly creased; in the lower left margin, one minuscule foxing spot. On the reverse, in the upper corners mounted with paper adhesive strips onto the support cardboard
